3000+ Tweets & 50 Blog Post – But What Have I learnt?
Last week I crossed a minor milestone – my 3000th tweet and I thought it was time to take stock.
I’ve been using twitter for well over a year and a half and blogging here at iThnk for just over 8months so what’s happened and what have I learnt???
What’s happened?
- Purely from Twitter I’ve met some great peeps (in the flesh) - @SocialSpace @Five15Design, @Jansa020, @QualityLMiriam @Kaedron @RyanHeller
- I’ve made tons of amazing virtual connections, most notable of which are @bwagy and @Whoisjohnlai
As a result of these wonderful peeps I’ve….
- Had enlightening philosophical debates about business concepts such as viral marketing and free - (thanks @bwagy)
- Written guest posts for PocketSmith, iJump & SocialMediaNZ
- I’ve been able to seek advice and encouragement when facing tough decisions – you’ve all helped more than you know!
Spin-off Projects
- I wrote a post about an industry sent it to a company in that industry and after some credibility testing Andy Moore and I ended up becoming their social media go-to guys.
- The connections made by being social media go-to guys laid the foundations for TEDxDunedin, which is now a bi-annual Dunedin event held at Deisoline Espresso.
- As businesses is growing and we’ve just relaunched iThnk as a social media solutions provider.
What have I learnt?
- More than I could ever write in one blog post – will have to do far more vids to explain in more detail the value of what I’ve learnt (sorry about the sketchiness of the vid).
Hugest thanks to…@ophil and @audaciousgloop – if it wasn’t for you I never would have started down the wonderful journey that is social media.
Looking back on this post I guess it’s been all about connections, I started off wanting to write this post and give you all some practical insight, but it seems like the insight is….make connections, because connections create opportunities!
