Everyone enjoys a good “big brand looks dumb” story, right? Well here are a few winners from the social media realm. Companies that either consciously (through arrogance), or inadvertently (through stupidity) got their SM accounts in the news for all the wrong reasons.
This is a question I’ve been pondering for quite some time. After reading this Mashable post, its seems almost certain that as individuals we are totally obsessed with the social media juggernaut… BUT what about businesses? Are organisations also hanging out for their daily fix of likes, comments and shares? I believe the answer is [...]
Are Businesses Too Obsessed with Facebook? is a post from: iThnk.com

"Follow us on Facebook"
Sure, oh wait, why exactly? Has anyone noticed the spate of “follow us” and “Find me on” signs popping up in your local shopping spots? Well I have. These little hints at a social media presence are appearing everywhere as tiny interruptions to our daily lives. I’ve got no problem with small business getting social, in fact I’m all for it... My only beef is the way they are going about it. It almost an afterthought, a knee-jerk reaction to the explosion of social media as a marketing platform.
Following The Followers is a post from: iThnk.com

A recent article in the online edition of the UK’s Telegraph reported that “Social media is useless” for small business. The reason being that a survey conducted by the Forum of Private Business found that of those using social network sites, 52% of business owners believed SM to be “useless” or of little value.
This is essentially a sequel the an article I wrote a few weeks back: What iThnk We Do. In writing that piece I attempted to illustrate how I would explain the benefits of our services to a business person yet to take the plunge into social media.
Love em or hate em, social apps are big business. How big? Check this out. The popularity of these seemingly pointless time wasters is undeniable… According to Digital Buzz, 70% of Facebook users engage with applications. Considering there is anywhere between 400 and 500 million registered users (depending on who you ask), that’s a whole [...]
The Application Game is a post from: iThnk.com
